TripAdvisor Names Myrtle Beach Top Beach Vacation Destination

Myrtle Beach is a wonderful place to soak up some sun and splash around on the beach. Obviously the readers of TripAdvisor agree as Myrtle Beach was voted number one in the category of “U.S. destination for a Beach & Sun Vacation” in its 2010 Traveler’s Choice Awards. Broadway at the Beach, a 350-acre entertainment complex located in the area, was also honored as the most popular site for visitors of Myrtle Beach.

One of the reasons a Myrtle Beach vacation is so popular is because of its family-friendly beaches. With over 60 miles of sandy beaches to explore, families find it a great place to relax, swim and build sandcastles. Of course, when you’re done at the beach, Broadway at the Beach provides plenty of things to do. With over 100 specialty shops, 19 restaurants, two movie theaters, a nightclub area and a theater with live shows, there is something for everyone. It’s no wonder it was named the top Myrtle Beach attraction.

One of the most popular attractions at Broadway at the Beach is Ripleys Aquarium, an 85,000 square foot facility featuring hundreds of sea creatures from around the world.

There are some great additions in store for the entertainment complex as well. In June, a new ropes course and zip line ride that will go over the 23 acre Lake Broadway will open. Adrenaline seekers will be able to fly 500 feet back and forth over Lake Broadway for a unique experience. Plus, construction has begun on WonderWorks, an interactive museum for the mind that is fun for kids and adults. It is scheduled to open in the spring of 2011.
