Five Things to Do in Myrtle Beach during the Holidays
Five Things to Do in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina this holiday season:· Broadway at the Beach: Myrtle Beach’s premier entertainment complex is home to WonderWorks and Ripley’s Aquarium, and they turn up the festive fun for Christmas at Broadway November 15-December 31, 2011. The event is highlighted by the annual tree lighting ceremony on November 19 from 6pm-7pm, complete with live entertainment, mascot appearances, and other surprises, as well as the annual holiday parade on December 3, starting at 11am, which features marching bands, classic cars, mascots and Santa Claus.
· Myrtle Beach Christmas Shows: Visitors can enjoy several Myrtle Beach shows that are holiday-themed during November and December. A few of the most popular shows include The South’s Grandest Christmas Show and Christmas on Ice.
· Ripley’s Aquarium Festival of Trees: The Festival of Trees dazzles with over 50 trees displayed throughout the aquarium, and a 20 foot tall red, white and blue tree in the plaza. This seasonal festival is included with the purchase of Ripley’s aquarium tickets.
· Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland: Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland, located at the Pelican’s Ballpark in Myrtle Beach, is highlighted by the LED Christmas light and music show. The wonderland also includes Santa’s Village, where visitors can get their photos taken with Santa, as well as enjoy seasonal treats like hot cocoa, candy apples and kettle corn. Nightly snowfalls, the Tinseltown marketplace, pony rides and camel rides on select nights, inflatables and much, much more round out the event. Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland is open now through January 8, 2012.
· Christmas Towne: This one-day event, held on December 11, takes place at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, near the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Hotel. The event include a tree lighting ceremony, photos with Santa, free holiday crafts, giveaways for kids and a variety of other family friendly, free activities. Hours for Christmas Towne are 2pm-6:30pm.
